I had booked a week off work last year which fell through and so me and my mother decided to book a coach trip. All the places we wanted to visit were booked up and so we though why not take a chance on a day trip to somewhere we had never heard of before!
I did a couple of internet searches and found a walking trail on TripAdvisor that caught my eye!
The journey was long, we started off from a town in Warwickshire at around 8am and began our 3hour journey to Barmouth. The coach was filled with a wide range of different ages and the coach driver was very friendly and talkative keeping everyone happy. This is my second time travelling with Shearings, and i would most definitely recommend them as a company.
When we arrived in Barmouth we had a spot of lunch and picked up a map from the information desk inside the train station, this cost £1.
To be honest, its a terrible terrible map, we wanted to find Dinas Oleu and the frenchmans grave yet from the map had no idea HOW to get up there. We popped in many local shops to ask for help all who couldn't decode it. Thankfully a customer shopping there told us to just cut up the side of the building, which felt like walking into someones back garden but this was No4 on the map "Old town"
We were also told the town has a local map which is free, typically being a tourist you'd be given the paid option first right...
Many cobbled steps later we realised we were on the right path. It has a "Mary Poppins" feel to it as you are literally on the roof tops.
As you can see from our MANY photos the views are spectacular, really worth the climb and it isn't that difficult.
I wish there was more time to cover all the stops on the map, we spent around 2/3 hours climbing and ended up missing out the stops near the beach front and the "island of brothers'
Wonderful views, would highly recommend visiting this cute little part of Wales.
