Whilst on our regular visit to South Wales i did a bit of research of what to do or visit and came across the 'Henrhyd falls' located near the village of Coelbren in the Brecon Beacons.
There is good sized car park with a relatively steep downhill trail leading to the waterfall, where you can hear the water cascading from the very start. Good shoes would be required on a damp day.
At the bottom of the trail, you climb up stairs at the very bottom, and over a boardwalk to reach the look out point. On the way there you can really capture some amazing photographs. I sadly only had my phone and selfie stick at the time, but still did what i could to capture my memory.
You can get as close as you like to the waterfall which is what i found most enjoyable. Either where I'm pictured above or you can take the cliff hugging path to the right taking you right behind the beautiful curtain itself. Expect to get sprayed!
I originally found out when researching this natural beauty that the waterfall is in fact the tallest waterfall in South Wales at an impressive 27 metres high. However, after visiting the falls i also found out that this waterfall was used for filming the Batman movie 'The Dark Knight' and this waterfall curtain is in fact the entrance to the Bat cave!!
Having seen the movie myself, it was a real eye opener to making the link between the scene and the waterfall. I'm now just curious as to how they filmed the scene!!
I've developed a strong love for waterfalls and try to find one in every new location i explore.
